Restoration Services for Public Spaces

Floor sanding, repairs and maintenance for schools, churches, community halls and offices in Harrow, planned around your timetable.

Restoring floors in schools, churches and offices

Sports halls, church halls and busy offices see thousands of footsteps every week. Done well, a sanded and properly finished wooden floor lasts for decades and looks better than any replacement. Our Harrow team restores floors for schools, churches, community halls and offices, and we plan every job around the way your building is used.

Sectors we cover

  • Schools and academies - halls and classrooms restored during half-terms and summer holidays, with court markings re-applied.

  • Churches and community halls - historic and heavily used floors restored around services, bookings and events.

  • Offices - sanding and re-coating out of hours or at weekends, so your business keeps running.

Planned around your timetable

Every building has its own pressures: term times, services, bookings or working hours. We schedule work during school holidays, between services and events, or in evenings and at weekends, and we agree a clear programme before we start. Our dust-free machines and low-VOC finishes keep the rest of the building usable while we work.

Safety and paperwork

We understand the compliance requirements of schools, churches and commercial premises. Before any job we supply risk assessments and method statements (RAMS), and we can send copies of our £5m public liability insurance certificate. We are used to working in occupied buildings and follow your site rules.

Floors for sport and activity

Halls used for PE, sport and dance need the right balance of grip and durability. Our sports lacquers are designed for heavy use, and court lines are painted between coats so they are sealed under the final layer. The result is a floor that looks sharp, performs well and stands up to years of use. We can also advise on cleaning regimes for caretaking and cleaning teams.

Why restore rather than replace?

  • Much cheaper than a replacement floor

  • Keeps original, high-quality timber and the character of the building

  • Less waste and a lower environmental impact

  • Faster turnaround, often within a holiday period

Maintenance plans for public buildings

A restored floor lasts much longer with a simple maintenance plan. We can set up a schedule of periodic re-coats, booked into the same holiday or quiet period each year, so the floor never wears through to bare timber. Good entrance matting and the right cleaning products make a noticeable difference. We look after many of the same buildings year after year.

We begin with a free survey and give you a fixed price and timetable. You can see typical costs on our prices page, though larger buildings are always quoted individually.

Our services for public buildings

Most projects combine full floor sanding with wood floor repairs to loose blocks or damaged boards. Between full restorations, lacquer re-coating keeps busy floors protected for a fraction of the cost. Our projects page shows some of the halls and public buildings we have worked on.

FAQ

Common questions

Do you work in the holidays?

Yes - holiday periods are our busiest time for schools, so early booking is advised.

Can you supply risk assessments?

Always. RAMS and insurance certificates are supplied before work starts.

Can you re-apply sports court markings?

Yes - markings are applied between coats so they are sealed under the final lacquer.

Can the building stay open while you work?

Usually only the area being worked on needs to close. Dust-free sanding and low-odour finishes keep disruption low.

FAQ

Questions about Public Spaces

All questions
Can you work during school holidays?

We regularly work during holidays, evenings and weekends. Large halls are often completed within a week, so disruption is kept to a minimum.

Will office work disrupt our staff?

We can work evenings, nights and weekends so the office stays open. Our dust-free machines and water-based lacquers mean staff can be back at their desks quickly.

Do you provide risk assessments and method statements?

We provide risk assessments, method statements and insurance details before work begins. Our team is used to working on occupied sites with strict safety rules.

Can you restore a church or community hall floor?

Yes — we restore halls, churches and community spaces, often around services and bookings. We take care with historic timber and choose finishes suited to busy halls. See churches and community halls.

How should I clean an oiled floor?

Use a soft brush or vacuum, then a barely damp mop with a wood floor soap. Avoid steam mops and bleach or multi-surface sprays. Read our care guide for a simple routine.

Can you repaint sports hall markings?

Yes. After sanding we apply sports-grade lacquer and can repaint court markings for badminton, netball and other games between coats so they are sealed in. Read more about our school floor restoration.
