Parquet Hallway Revival
Loose and missing parquet blocks replaced before a full sand and matt lacquer finish.
About this project
The oak herringbone hallway had taken decades of heavy foot traffic. Several blocks near the front door had worked loose and a few were missing altogether.
Loose blocks were lifted, cleaned and re-bonded, and reclaimed oak blocks filled the gaps where originals were missing. Sanding followed in multiple directions to keep the pattern crisp and flat.
Three coats of matt water-based lacquer gave a tough, natural-looking finish that copes with muddy shoes. The repaired blocks now blend in completely.
